Plagiarism Policy
The Global Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (GJMPS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. The journal strictly prohibits plagiarism in any form and expects authors to submit only original and unpublished work.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism refers to the use of another person’s ideas, words, data, or work without proper acknowledgment or permission. This includes:
Direct copying of text without proper citation
Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without attribution
Using figures, tables, or images without permission or citation
Self-plagiarism or duplicate publication of previously published work
Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to the journal are screened using standard plagiarism detection software before the peer review process begins.
Manuscripts that show unacceptable levels of textual similarity may be rejected or returned to the authors for revision.
Acceptable Similarity Limits
The journal generally expects manuscripts to maintain a similarity index within acceptable academic limits. Minor similarities related to references, methodology descriptions, or commonly used phrases may be considered acceptable.
However, substantial copying of text or ideas without proper citation will not be tolerated.
Action in Cases of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process, the journal may take appropriate actions, including:
Immediate rejection of the manuscript
Request for revision and proper citation
Notification to the authors’ institutions if serious misconduct is identified
Retraction of the published article if plagiarism is discovered after publication
Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is original and properly cited. All sources of information must be appropriately acknowledged in accordance with standard academic citation practices.
Ethical Compliance
The journal follows internationally recognized ethical guidelines for handling plagiarism and research misconduct as recommended by COPE and ICMJE.
